Yamaha launches the new Ténéré 700 World Raid, a motorcycle designed for long distances that offers excellent performance on and off-road, versatile and easy in all conditions.

Equipped to go further than any other Ténéré. The World Raid features state-of-the-art suspension for increased confidence and comfort, improved ergonomics, rally-inspired styling and multi-modal instrumentation with call and SMS notifications.

The history of the Ténéré

40 years ago, the XT600 Ténéré gave everyone the chance to experience extreme adventure. Designed starting from motorcycle racing in rallies, the first Ténéré has literally opened a new world to any driver who wishes to get away from the ordinary, escape from their comfort zone and explore new remote places.

Since the 80s, thousands of pilots have chosen the Ténéré as their long-distance travel companion. Since then, Yamaha's Adventure motorcycle has continuously evolved and most recently the introduction of the new Tenére 700 it has inspired a new generation of pilots to seek out new terrain and ever more remote places.

Autonomy

The two tanks with one total capacity of 23 liters, side-mounted, are designed to bring peace of mind on longer journeys and eliminate the range anxiety every rider feels when the reserve light starts flashing. Under typical usage conditions, it is estimated that the two tanks can offer a range of up to 500 km, with a higher range that makes the Ténéré 700 World Raid a true lady of the desert.

The unique dual tank design has a number of advantages over a single tank as well as increasing its capacity, thanks to two separate tanks positioned further down, the center of gravity of the bike is practically equal to the current Ténéré 700, (equipped with a 16-liter tank) ensuring agility and handling despite the weight increased by the fuel load.

Ergonomic spaces and furniture

In addition to the reduced height of the new double tank, the Ténéré 700 World Raid features a new saddle, by 890 mm, with a much flatter profile for a smoother passage in the connection between the saddle and tank. This design allows the rider to easily shift body weight forward and backward in an agile manner for maximum control over rough terrain. The new ergonomics is suitable for both upright and seated driving positions.

For added wind protection on long-distance adventures, the Ténéré is equipped with a windshield 15 mm higher, and side deflectors easy to remove, LED turn signals, all standard.

Le new larger rider footpegs emphasize attention to detail. The larger surface offers more grip for the stivali of the rider and also reduces the pressure on the soles when driving on extreme terrain. A wider surface prevents the accumulation of mud and sand, and the removable rubber inserts improve the stability of the footpegs / boots in wet conditions.

Instrumentation

The new 5 ″ color TFT instrumentation is connected to the Communication Control Unit (CCU) of the motorcycle that speaks to theMyRide app, offering visibility on the central instrument panel of the notifications of messages and calls incoming, while the battery status of the mobile phone is always displayed as soon as the connection is created.

Furthermore is able to report any anomalies, offering greater peace of mind and safety to Adventure pilots, especially when participating in long trips in unfamiliar territory.

Access to the necessary information is essential on any long-distance journey, and the pilots of the Ténéré 700 World Raid can choose between 3 different themes on the new 5 ″ color TFT instrumentation.

ABS also off-road

For optimum control in all driving conditions, the new Ténéré 700 World Raid is equipped with 3-mode ABS selectable when the bike is stationary by means of a special switch on the handlebar which activates a specific menu. There mode 1 is fully active, with both wheels using the ABS function as required by law while driving on public roads.

Le Modes 2 and 3 were introduced for off-road driving. In particular, mode 2 (a new function developed for the Ténéré 700 World Raid) provides for activation of the ABS only on the front wheel and deactivation on the rear wheel. This is the recommended option for surfaces such as gravel paths, where grip is very low. There mode 3 is completely off, suitable for experienced riders who want to enjoy pure off-road driving.

Chassis and suspension

To improve handling performance in off-road conditions, the suspension system of the Ténéré 700 World Raid features a number of significant improvements. There 43mm KYB fork The newly designed wheel has 230 mm of wheel travel, 20 mm more than the Ténéré 700, offering greater absorption potential on rough terrain. The new fork is adjustable in preload, in addition to compression and extension to allow the rider to set the settings according to their riding style, terrain or load.

For better controllability, particularly in off-road driving situations, it is fitted as standard with an Öhlins steering damper. The mounting position is close to the top plate, allowing the rider to quickly adjust the unit to their preferred levels of sensitivity and response on different terrains, thanks to 18 levels of adjustment.

Also the rear suspension has been improved to fit the new fork and features a new shock absorber with piggy-back tank with a greater excursion. The damping characteristics of the rear suspension, and the spring constant, have all been optimized to offer a comfortable ride on the road, along with the ability to withstand the hardest hits during off-road use.

Motor

The iconic engine 689 cc inline twin liquid-cooled is the driving force behind the new Ténéré 700 World Raid. Featuring a 270° crankshaft giving it a characteristic irregular firing sequence, this crossplane concept CP2 engine is known is preferably used for strong linear torque and for ultra responsive performance e easily controllable which make it extremely pleasant and rewarding to drive at all speeds.

The compact size and low weight make the CP2 unit ideal for the needs of off-road driving. Furthermore, thanks to the linear torque delivery, it offers high tractive power at low-medium revs, this robust, reliable and economical engine is particularly suited to the different road and off-road surfaces normally faced by Adventure riders.

The Ténéré 700 family is an Adventure motorcycle built for long distance riding in extreme off-road terrain and the air filter it has been specially designed to handle them better. The Ténéré airbox is equipped with an intake duct designed for prevent the ingress of dust and debris raised by the rear wheel.

For added protection when riding off-road, the motorcycle is equipped with a new 3-piece aluminum engine guard, which helps prevent accidental damage caused by stones, rocks and other debris, thanks to the new suspension with increased travel, the ground clearance is 250 mm.

Prices and colors

Yamaha will offer the new Ténéré 700 World Raid in two colors. Icon Blue is inspired by official racing bikes and features blue body panels, side panels with yellow accents and blue rims. The version Midnight black presents a minimalist and serious image, characterized by a completely black body and wheels.

Deliveries to Yamaha dealers will begin in May 2022, at the list price 12.599,00 ex-dealer.
