Arrone, counted among the most beautiful villages in Italy, is absolutely worth a visit during our travels and motorbike tours.
In the heart of Umbria, it stands on the left bank of the Nera river, on a rocky hill, a short distance from the famous Marmore waterfall, as well as from Terni, Spoleto and Rieti.

the Borgo
Immersed in the wild nature of the Nera river park, the Borgo is considered a "hill castle", built in the Middle Ages to "watch over" the area. Surrounding it we find: Roman mills, medieval monasteries and hermitages, industrial archeology buildings such as the lignite mine in the hamlet of Buoncquiring.
What to see
Arrochar it is made up of two ancient residential areas, called La Terra and Santa Maria, and a much more recent third, which fortunately is peripheral and located on the flat part along the road to Polino. The Earth is the primordial settlement, characterized by the castle of the Arroni. To visit: the gothic church of San Giovanni Battista and the Porta di San Giovanni which connects the two ancient ones villages.
Walking through the streets we find: the tower of the olive trees, the civic bell tower, the sixteenth-century church of Santa Maria Assunta with a fifteenth-century portal, frescoes and terracotta statues. Once in the hamlet of Casteldilago, another castle on the hill, we can visit the church of San Valentino and the church of San Nicola. Do not miss the panoramic path that leads to the sanctuary of the Madonna dello Scoglio, from here you can enjoy a splendid view over the whole Valnerina.

Arrone, so immersed in nature, is all to be experienced outdoors, starting with a visit to the close Waterfall marmore. From mountain biking to discover the most beautiful areas of the Nera River Park, up to the Marmore Falls, to the canoe school and rafting school suitable for children as well. And for those who want to leave their own for a few hours motorcycle, you can also opt for some wonderful trekking routes.
By motorbike you can walk la strada that Arrochar joins Monteleone, passing through Polino and Colle Bertone (that of the famous trench).
In the kitchen
Typical of the Arrone area are extra virgin olive oil, truffles, freshwater species such as trout and prawns. Berries abound and honey is excellent. Not to mention the pecorino cheese and the famous norcineria della Valnerina (cured meats and sausages, from ham to sausages).
Among the first courses, those linked to the "river fish" stand out: shrimp soup, ciriole with trout fillets and black truffle, tagliolini with river prawns.
The second masters of the table are the classic lamb scottadito with chopped lard and herbs, and the boiled trout with truffles.
