Comfort and interior
Lo Scorpion Exo-Tech Evo is a helmet indeed comfortable. I tried a size M, already comfortable and comfortable even when just worn. Obviously, the greatest comfort occurs when the chin guard is open, because the helmet "relaxes" in the cheek pads. As a result, there is a little extra pressure on the jaw and cheeks when it closes, but this sensation disappears after a few minutes.
- interior they are fresh, breathable, delicate in contact with the skin and obviously removable and washable. The sun visor moves well and also protects well from the air without creating annoying reflections on the main visor. The ears have plenty of space, also thanks to the predisposition for the Bluetooth system. The micrometric closure is easily accessible, adjustable and does not press on the throat. In the end we give full marks to the main visor which, although it does not go beyond the nose / mouth line, is very well designed and with the chin guard raised it deflects the wind well even at high speeds.
Flip back and protection
The flip back, after the famous Air fit patent, is the strong point of the Scorpion Exo-Tech Evo, as transforms from integral to true jet. Thus the terrible sail effect that you have on is missing helmets openable levers on the cervical and in the long run can cause serious damage. The French helmet is specially designed to allow the user to travel comfortably with the helmet open without pressure on the neck. The downside, however, is represented by two points: the first is linked to aerodynamics, as the Scorpion Exo-Tech Evo remains, when open and when closed, slightly wider than average, offering a slight more wind resistance than to an integral and a normal jet. The other point is linked to the classic problem of flip-up helmets (of every race and type) as all the opening systems, visor controls and various designs always allow air to infiltrate more easily than a full-face helmet, with the consequent increase in average noise. But anyone who buys a flip-top knows it and must always be aware of it.
But the Scorpion Exo-Tech Evo also has two advantages to consider with the utmost attention: the first concerns the open protection, which covers the cheeks almost up to the chin, clearly above average compared to a jet or other openables. The second concerns the double P+J approval (already updated to the new legislation ECE 22-06).
What we liked and what we didn't
In conclusion, we can only promote the Scorpion Exo-Tech Evo as the perfect helmet for those who use it daily, such as on the way home to the office, or on holidays and on short and medium-range rides and for those in any case looking for comfort of a jet and protection of an integral when needed. Over long distances, especially if you spend many hours in the saddle, it remains a noisy helmet like all flip-up helmets and less aerodynamic, but it is also true that those who travel often make a long journey (outward or return) and many short journeys in which Scorpion Exo-Tech Evo can be a perfect travel companion.
