The path

The road that runs alongside the massif, the SR48, connects Auronzo di Cadore to Cortina d'Ampezzo, passing through Lake Misurina. Turning instead to Dobbiaco, you go along Lake Landro. The most well-known panoramic points are: those of the Val di Landro, on the SS51 a few kilometers from Carbonin where, at a short distance, there is a side profile of the Three Peaks; otherwise we can admire the peaks from the Auronzo refuge or better still from the Antonio Locatelli refuge. For a gastronomic break we recommend the Lago di Landro Restaurant, where you can taste the specialties of the area. A short distance from Auronzo di Cadore another splendid one starts itinerario to do in motorcycle, from Lozzo di Cadore to Ampezzo.

The three peaks of Lavaredo

The Tre Cime di Lavaredo vaguely resemble three fingers, which point towards the sky compact, harmoniously aligned, appreciated by connoisseurs for their shapes and colors. The northern wall marks the exact border with the territory of the municipality of Dobbiaco. The Three Peaks of Lavaredo have been in the Auronzo di Cadore area in the province of Belluno since time immemorial Veneto and since 1752 the border runs precisely along the north face of the peaks. Between 1915 and 1917 the peaks of the Lavaredo formed the war front. From this period there are still evident remains (trenches, tunnels, barracks) on the massif and on the nearby Mount Paterno.

The Misurina Lake

Misurina lake is one of the largest lakes del Cadore and is located at 1.754 m asl in Misurina, a hamlet of Auronzo di Cadore (Belluno). The perimeter is 2,6 km while the depth is 5 meters. The particular climatic characteristics of the area around the lake make the air particularly suitable for those suffering from respiratory diseases. In fact, near the lake there is the only center in Italy for the treatment of childhood asthma. To the east of the lake there are ski lifts, and there chain of the Cadini di Misurina (The Dolomites di Sesto), crossed by the Alberto Bonacossa equipped path. To the north of the lake, taking the road that leads to the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, is the Lake of Antorno. To the south, on the other hand, is the Sorapiss Group (Ampezzo Dolomites).

The Landro Lake

Lake Landro is located at the bottom of the Val di Landro, in South Tyrol, in the municipality of Dobbiaco a few kilometers north of the crossroads, near Carbonin, which forks towards Lake Misurina or Cimabanche, at a distance of about twenty kilometers from Cortina d'Ampezzo. At the lake you can admire the steep rocky walls of the The Dolomites, in the territory of the Sesto Dolomites Natural Park. On the shores of Lake Landro there is a stone with a wheel, placed in memory of the cableway that brought supplies from the lake to the positions on Mount Piana, during the First World War.

Grand Hotel Misurina

Even if we are a few kilometers from Cortina d'Ampezzo, we decided to stay at the Grand Hotel Misurina, overlooking the splendid shores of the lake of the same name, at an altitude of 1.754 meters and in great demand among motorcyclists, families and many other travelers.

Grand Hotel Misurina: Swimming pool

This setting between the Dolomites and the Tre Cime di Lavaredo is simply unique. Immersed in nature, for two passivated from the water, you can breathe peace and well-being as soon as you get off the bike. The structure is characterized by welcoming and elegant environments, with large rooms, very comfortable beds (the backs of the centaurs thank you) and a truly unique panorama.

Grand Hotel Misurina: Restaurant

The swimming pool with its wellness center and the restaurant were then the perfect recipe for a truly relaxing stay, albeit too short. The traditional dishes are all there, as well as many variations of national and international cuisine accompanied by an excellent selection of wines. The very kind staff then dispensed many travel tips on the area, forcing us, with immense pleasure, to stay one more night to discover these truly unique valleys by motorbike.
