The road from the South

Once you reach the top, luckily you will be immersed in nature, among peaks, trees and the splendid small lake Nassfeld, very popular for fishing and for refreshing summer baths. There are also numerous donkeys that graze in the surroundings, but be careful of the temper, they do not like to be disturbed (rightly).

Useful Tips

If you decide to cross the border, the descent to Tröpolach is instead quieter and the road very well maintained, also because from this side you find the largest ski area in Carinthia.

Furthermore, while Lake Nassfeld is obviously very freezing even in summer, you can stretch as far as Hermagor to dive into Lake Pressegger, called the Carinthian bathtub, as its waters reach up to 28 ° C. in summer.
