Information
The Costalunga Pass hosted several stages of the Tour of Italy and for this reason it is very popular with cycling enthusiasts. The pass offers three ski facilities that go up the slopes to the slopes of the top Pope of the Latemar and allow the ski connection with the locality of Carezza Lake and Nova Levante. The Carezza and Costalunga lifts are part of the Val di Fassa.
The pass is the starting point for numerous excursions in the Dolomite groups of Rosengarten and the Latemar. The paths that start from the pass allow you to reach the refuges on the Catinaccio: Paolina, Roda di Vaèl, the Marino Pederiva refuge and the ancient Aleardo Fronza alle Coronelle refuge (Kölner Hütte).
Itinerary
Starting from Nova Levante we take the SS241 which will take us after just over six kilometers to the Carezza lake, a splendid and obligatory stop. We recommend arriving early as the road is very busy with tourist buses. We continue to the town of Carezza al lago, near the Costalunga Pass from where we can decide to deviate towards the less busy Nigra Pass through the Tires Valley or point towards our goal Vigo di Fassa through the SS241.
