The new K 1600 models have all been revamped through numerous technical upgrades, including the even more powerful engine than the previous one.
Six-cylinder in-line engines have always belonged to the most exclusive BMW models. Since 2010, with the K 1600 models, BMW Motorrad has been offering fascinating and luxurious motorcycles equipped at the highest level with the high-performance six-cylinder engine.

The main models
La K 1600 GT it is the most agile and dynamic variant of the six-cylinder design, while the K 1600 GTL with the improved ergonomics and the standard top box lends itself more to a pleasant drive.
The K 1600 B belongs to a completely different species. Offers the characteristic "streamlining" with a low back section in bagger style. Its motto is "The Spirit of the Open Road". It represents elegance, power and luxury on two wheels and allows the driver to live intensely every experience on the road, every journey and every moment. Based on the K 1600 B, the K 1600 Grand America combines the high performance of the straight six-cylinder engine with accessories exclusives that make long-distance travel American-style an experience as comfortable as it is glamorous, whether alone or in company.
Motor
Six-cylinder in-line engine revised according to Euro 5 regulation with a new engine control, a knock sensor system, revised emissions plan, as well as an engine drag torque control.
The six-cylinder engine has been adapted to current Euro 5 regulations for use in the new K 1600 GT, GTL, B and Grand America. From a technical point of view, the strong point is the use of the management system electronics BMS-O engine, two knock sensors and two additional broadband lambda probes. In addition to the drastically decreased emission values, there are also notable advantages regarding the power and torque of the six-cylinder engine. Nominal capacity is still 118 kW (160 hp). However, it is now achieved already at a rotational speed of 6750 rpm and thus 1000 rpm less than previously. In addition, the new technical properties provide an increase in maximum torque from 175 Nm to 180 Nm at a rotational speed of 5250 rpm. Even greater thrust and even more powerful acceleration represent tangible improvements for the driver.
Another new component is the engine drag torque control (MSR). Thanks to it, it will be possible to safely avoid the conditions of driving instability, which can develop when driving when the accelerator is released or when downshifting due to excessive slip of the rear wheel.

Dynamic ESA “Next Generation”, electronic suspension with fully automatic load compensation.
La BMW Motorrad Dynamic ESA “Next Generation” (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) on the new K 1600 GT, GTL, B and Grand America ensures even higher levels of riding safety, performance and comfort, as the damping automatically adapts to the riding conditions and the maneuvers. Furthermore, we also find the automatic compensation of the driving position for all load levels of the motorcycle.
Electronics
Ultra-modern LED units and new full LED adaptive headlights. BMW Motorrad has been a pioneer in terms of safety on two wheels for decades. For this reason, the new K 1600 GT, GTL, B and Grand America already come with state-of-the-art LED units as standard. The new full LED headlight with LED lens technology and the iconic daytime driving light (depending on the market) illuminates the road with unparalleled bright and clear light, reaffirming the prestige of the new six-cylinder models. Another standard component of the headlight is the rotatable “Adaptive Headlight” function. Thanks to this function, the LED low beam rotates when cornering according to the angle of inclination. In this way, the curve is almost completely illuminated, since the light is directed on the path of the bike.
Furthermore, by rotating the entire dipped beam unit (± 2 °), the dynamic states of the vehicle (braking, acceleration) are managed automatically and optimal lighting is guaranteed at all times. In addition, a series of new functions have been added such as the “Welcome light”.

New 10,25-inch TFT color display with integrated navigation map, intuitive route planning and full connectivity as standard
The new K 1600 GT, GTL, B and Grand America are equipped as standard with a new 10,25-inch TFT color display with integrated map navigation and connectivity. Thanks to excellent readability, intuitive navigation menu and an integrated operating concept, they are positioned at the top of their segment. The new 10,25-inch color display allows you to view the navigation map on the instrument cluster, thus removing the need for an additional display.
2.0 audio system - a new dimension of digital sound as standard or as optional equipment ex works
With the 2.0 audio system, the new K 1600 GTL and Grand America offer an even more intense sound experience as standard. The audio system is available as optional equipment from the factory for the K 1600 GT and K 1600 B.

The new K 1600 GT, GTL, B and Grand America are each available in three eye-catching color options: a basic variant, a style variant and Option 719. Particularly noteworthy is Option 719 "Midnight", available only for the K 1600 B and K 1600 Grand America. The highlight of this is the metallic “Galaxy” themed Meteoric Dust II paintwork depicted with the dipping print.
