Redesigned from top to bottom, the KTM 1290 Super Adventure R comes with a long list of innovations, from the engine, to the chassis, to ergonomics.
Ergonomics and weights
The all-new superstructures, which offer excellent ergonomics and allow the fuel to be kept as low as possible in the tank, have been designed for improved agility, a lower center of gravity and an improved driving feeling in all conditions. The feeling of control and balance is improved thanks to the new 23-liter tank made in three parts, positioned lower to facilitate driving dynamics.
Lower saddle
The rear subframe has also been redesigned and is dominated by a saddle made in one piece, with a height of 880 mm, tapered shapes and a practical storage compartment in the saddle.
WP XPLOR suspensions
The renewed WP suspension, tested for thousands of kilometers in the Californian deserts and on the most tortuous European roads, contributes to further improving handling and comfort. The KTM 1290 Super Adventure R is packed with elements from KTM's prolific off-road activity and packs the best of WP XPLOR technology. The fully adjustable fork with 48 mm stanchions guarantees a travel of 220 mm and adopts separate damping functions that can be managed through practical ring nuts placed at the head of the chainstays. The WP PDS shock features the same travel as the fork and is also fully adjustable.
Electronics
The KTM 1290 Super Adventure R offers advanced electronic packages as standard, the result of ongoing collaboration with a top-tier partner such as Bosch. The new six-axis inertial platform helps process information regarding the exact inclination and position of the motorcycle, as well as his behavior. In turn, this affects the degree of intervention of Traction Control, Engine Release Torque Adjustment (MSR) and Motorcycle Braking Stability Control (MSC), as well as managing ABS Offroad. To meet the needs of the modern all-terrain driving enthusiast, all driver assistance devices can be limited or disabled.
New TFT display
Alongside the standard RAIN, STREET, SPORT and OFFROAD riding modes, the optional RALLY mode allows the most demanding riders to set throttle response to three levels and select one of nine rear wheel slip levels. Changes to adapt driving to any topographical feature are all processed via the brand new 7 '' TFT instrument cluster, which is linked to a new Connectivity Unit. The larger display features quick and intuitive menus, as well as clearly showing turn-by-turn directions suggested by the KTM MY RIDE app (for a fee).
Motor
The Euro 8 approved LC5 engine produces 160 HP at 9.000 rpm and 138 Nm of torque at 6.500 rpm. KTM has thoroughly analyzed the internal parts of the 75 ° V-twin to improve heat dissipation and reduce weight by 1,6 kg, in an effort to optimize driveability. The KTM 1290 Super Adventure R features two separate radiators, instead of the single unit of the previous model. Thanks to the renewed air filter box, pilots can easily access the air filter by simply removing four screws. Other improvements to the engine include lighter crankcases, new pistons, modified linings and a reworked twin exhaust manifold. The Quickshifter + (optional) now boasts faster and more precise intervention.
New tires
To cope with the complications of life off the beaten track, the KTM 1290 Super Adventure R has been fitted with first-rate equipment. New Bridgestone Adventure riding-specific tires wrap around Alpina aluminum spoked wheels, which can accommodate tubeless tires with a reliable O-ring seal on the spoke nipples.
Extra packs
As in the case of more street version S, the new KTM 1290 Super Adventure R boasts reconfigured optional software packages. If the Rally Pack includes RALLY riding mode, nine-level control of rear wheel slip and customization of throttle response, the Tech Pack includes Quickshifter +, engine torque adjustment during release, Hill Hold Control, adaptive brake light and all the functions of the Rally Pack.
The KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R will be available at KTM Dealers starting from March 2021 at the cost of 19.850 € fc
