The Multistrada V2 focuses on an elegant and sporty design, perfectly in line with the stylistic and recognizable canons of the Ducati Multistrada family, recently renovated by the Borgo Panigale manufacturer with the entry into the range of the Multistrada V4. The clean surfaces, the flowing lines and the difference in volume between the front and the rear are the most characteristic elements of the motorcycle, which inherits the mirrors, alloy wheels and brake discs with aluminum flange from its “big sister”, the Multistrada V4, resulting in a saving of 2,9 kg in terms of overall weight. Other novelties in the design are represented by the new engine covers and the new tail, redesigned by Ducati engineers to improve ergonomics and comfort. The assembly of the brake and clutch reservoirs has also been revised, separating them from the handguards, to increase the strength of the bike.

Compared to the previous version, the Multistrada V2 also features a new refined graphic that shows the name of the bike on both sides. The color range consists of the classic "Ducati Red" color with black rims, available for both Multistrada V2 and Multistrada V2 S, and is completed by the addition of the new "Street Gray" livery with black frame and "Rosso GP" rims, can only be ordered for the S version.

Motor

The engine of the Multistrada V2 is the latest evolution of the already known and appreciated 11 cm Ducati Testastretta 937 ° twin cylinder.3 with desmodromic distribution. The water-cooled 4-valve per cylinder engine delivers a maximum power of 113 HP at 9.000 rpm and a maximum torque of 10 kgm at 6.750 rpm in the Euro 5 configuration * and is characterized by an excellent level of reliability and with a great ability to combine performance and adrenaline with a regular and always manageable delivery, putting in the hands of the rider a sports bike that is never aggressive. Reliable and robust, the engine has extended maintenance intervals, with oil change every 15.000 km and valve clearance check every 30.000 km.

The evolution of the Testastretta 11 ° mounted on the new Multistrada V2 presents important improvements: new connecting rods, new 8-disc hydraulic clutch and an updated gearbox, which guarantees greater fluidity and precision of shifting, also facilitating the engagement of neutral. An even more appreciable progress in use in conjunction with the quickshifter, now with a further optimized operating strategy.

The changes to the gearbox and clutch, together with the introduction of new connecting rods and new covers, also allow a reduction of the total weight of the engine by about 2 kg.

For the first time in the history of the Multistrada family, with the Multistrada V2 Ducati is also adding the 35 kW version to the range for holders of an A2 license. This choice has the clear objective of making the world of Borgo Panigale “multibikes” ever more accessible to everyone, especially younger motorcyclists.

Ergonomic spaces and furniture

The ergonomic aspect is the aspect of the Multistrada V2 that has been more revisited than the Multistrada 950. Some key elements of the bike have been redesigned in order to make it even more accessible, helping to improve the high standards of comfort it offers in all its features. areas of use (touring, commuting and urban use) and put any motorcyclist at ease in any situation.

The saddle has been modified in shape to allow the rider to move easily along the longitudinal axis and is now narrower and more comfortable between the legs. This feature, together with a reduction in height of 10mm (830mm) and, above all, the horse's arch of 40mm (1790mm), makes it much easier to touch with your feet on the ground when the bike is stationary and allows to carry out maneuvers with great confidence even at full load. The distance between the saddle and the asphalt can be further reduced up to 790 mm by fitting the low saddle accessory in combination with the lowered suspension kit.

The driving position is also made more comfortable by the new footpegs inherited from the Multistrada V4 which, thanks to a distance from the saddle increased by 10 mm, ensure the right roominess even for taller riders, avoiding them from bending their legs excessively and allowing thus a more restful position during long journeys.

The bike is spacious and can easily accommodate two people even with the top case and side cases mounted, to allow you to experience the thrill of travel every day, rediscovering the usual roads or venturing into new territories, following the philosophy of " Extraordinary Journey ".

Vehicle

The scheme adopted for the chassis of the Multistrada V2 includes a front trellis frame together with two fused side frames, closed by a rear load-bearing element made of technopolymer loaded with glass fiber for maximum torsional rigidity, to which is added the double-sided swingarm made in shell cast aluminum.

The bike's chassis is agile and intuitive, with the 19″ front wheel that ensures smooth, easy riding, always with the right level of responsiveness and precision. Extremely versatile, the bike is also ideal for urban use, thanks to the effectiveness of the Ducati Skyhook Suspension EVO semi-active suspension system (standard on the S version), which is based on a 48 mm SACHS fork and rear shock absorber SACHS both of electronic type, with the possibility of continuously adjusting the hydraulic brake in compression and extension according to a semi-active control approach capable of absorbing bumps and irregularities, guaranteeing the ideal balance of the vehicle and significantly increasing safety and comfort.

The aluminum alloy wheels are the same as the Multistrada V4 with measures 3,0 "x 19" at the front and 4,5 "x 17" at the rear. These rims, thanks to a weight of 1.7 kg less than those of the Multistrada 950, generate a significant improvement in the dynamic behavior of the bike. The tires are Pirelli Scorpion Trail II in sizes 120/70 ZR19 at the front and 170/60 ZR17 at the rear.

The important lightening work carried out on the bike made it possible to obtain a final dry weight of 199 kg (202 kg for the S version), with a reduction of 5 kg compared to the Multistrada 950. The engine lost about 2 kg. Among the vehicle components, the new rims stand out, together with the Multistrada V4 mirrors (- 0,7 kg) and the front brake disc flanges, now in aluminum (- 0,5 kg). With regard to the wheel rims, moreover, new spoked rims are also available as an accessory, also significantly lighter.

Electronics

The safety, comfort and performance of the Multistrada V2 are also guaranteed by the state of the art as regards electronic assistance systems. In the S version, the journey becomes 5-star thanks to a full-optional package of reference for the segment to which it belongs.

In 2010 the Multistrada was the first bike in the world equipped with Riding Modes, which allow you to choose between different preset modes to optimize vehicle behavior based on the rider's driving style and environmental conditions. The Multistrada V2 is equipped with four Riding Modes (Sport, Touring, Urban, Enduro), each of which exploits the presence of the Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) platform to act on the intervention levels of ABS Cornering, modifying the character of the bike. depending on the choices of the pilot.

The Ducati Traction Control (DTC) of the Multistrada V2 is adjustable on 8 levels, while the ABS Cornering is adjustable on 3 and at level 1 it offers the “only front” functionality (not cornering). The Vehicle Hold Control (VHC) system is used to help the driver in the uphill starting phases. It is activated when the user, with the motorcycle at a standstill and with the side stand retracted, applies high pressure on the front brake lever or on the rear brake pedal and is able to keep the vehicle stationary by actively intervening on the rear brake. This feature turns off automatically after 30 seconds if not used.

The Multistrada V2 is equipped with an aggressive design lamp front headlight, typical of the bikes of the Multistrada family. At the rear there is an LED headlight, which uses the Ducati Brake Light system (already developed on the Multistrada V4): in the event of violent braking, this system automatically activates the flashing of the rear light in order to appropriately signal the condition of abrupt slowdown to the vehicles. that follow, making a contribution to the safety of the motorcycle.

In the S version, the headlight is of the full LED type and is equipped with the Ducati Cornering Lights (DCL) function which optimizes the illumination of the roadway when cornering based on the inclination of the motorcycle.

On the Multistrada V2, the automatic deactivation of the arrows is available, depending on the lean angle. Thanks to the use of the IMU inertial platform, the arrows turn off after completing the turn or after a prolonged journey.

The dashboard of the Multistrada V2 consists of a large, high-visibility LCD. The S version, on the other hand, is equipped with a high-resolution 5 "color TFT display with an intuitive interface that makes it easy to navigate the menu and backlit handlebar controls, to which the Ducati Quick Shift Up / Down is added as standard. , Cruise Control and the Hands Free system. Both versions are designed for integration with the Ducati Multimedia System.
