The MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix, held this afternoon at the MotorLand Aragón in Alcañiz, ended with an extraordinary victory for Pecco Bagnaia, who achieved his first success in MotoGP ahead of 6-time winner Marc Marquez.
The Ducati Lenovo Team rider, who took pole position yesterday with a new track record (fiftieth in the premier class for Ducati) and first again this morning in the warm up, today achieved a real masterpiece.
Immediately taking the lead after the start, Pecco kept the lead up to the checkered flag, managing to keep up with a Marc Márquez always very close to his Desmosedici GP 21. With three laps to go, the Spaniard started to attack Bagnaia, who, however, was able to respond to his every attack, remaining in command.
After a very heated duel on the last lap, the Borgo Panigale red driver finally managed to get the better of Márquez, crossing the line in first position with a gap of 673 thousandths of a second over his opponent.
Joan Mir also managed to get on the podium, leaving behind an exceptional Alex Espargaro on Aprilia and Fabio Quartararo who, however, remains at the top of the championship with 214 points, closely followed by Pecco Bagnaia. Jack Miller, second in qualifying yesterday, closes the thirteenth round of the 2021 MotoGP season in fifth place.
