There are many motorbike itineraries near Rome, but one of our favorites passes through the Castelli Romani and arrives at Circeo.
Today we travel the itinerary that from central Rome takes us through the marvelous Rocca di Papa, Sermoneta and Circeo. For a short trip out of town or a weekend by the sea, discovering some hidden gem of our territory is never a waste of time.

Castelli Romani Park SP217
Leaving the chaos of the capital, we take the SP217, heading south, through the marvelous Park of the Roman Castles, where you can stretch to the Albano lake and Lake Nemi, for a different and certainly fresh stop. The provincial ends in Velletri, where you can visit the Palazzo Comunale, Santa Maria del Trivio, Torre del Trivio and the Cathedral of San Clemente to name just some of the points of interest in the town. Alternative to Velletri is the village of Rocca di Papa.

The Pontine plain via SS7
Following the SS7 towards the south-east, at Casal delle Palme, turn off for Sermoneta. The country is one among the villages most fascinating medieval works of the Lazio. It is accessed by a winding road that climbs directly from the Pontine Plain, gradually offering panoramas ever larger: the town suddenly appears beautiful, completely surrounded by mighty walls and all perched on its hill of olive trees. Caetani Castle and Garden of Ninfa are the two wonders not to be missed in this small treasure chest that is Sermoneta.

San Felice al Circeo
Following the directions on the map at the bottom of the article, you arrive at the Municipality of San Felice Circeo which, like that of Sabaudia, is completely inserted in the territory of the Circeo National Park. The historic center of San Felice is located halfway up Monte Circeo, overlooking the Gulf of Gaeta. It is a medieval village with wonderful bars, restaurants and lookout points. At Circeo the most beautiful sea is the one that bathes the coasts of the Promontory between wild cliffs and small coves. Among these are the descents to the sea of the Rinascente, the Batteries, the Grotta delle Capre and the Prigioniero Beach. In addition to the beaches, we recommend taking a short trek to the Circe peak or a visit to the Capo Circeo lighthouse.

Where to eat and sleep
For those who, at this point in reading, already have some of the delicacies of the area in mind, we recommend the restaurant "The artists' inn" in San Felice al Circeo, for delicious fish dishes and above all an excellent quality / price ratio.
