On a hot afternoon in April we decided to test the V9 Roamer, which in our opinion represents the best compromise between daily use and medium / short range touring even in pairs.
For generations Moto Guzzi has always confirmed itself as the best expression of Italian custom, looking at innovation and style, but without ever getting lost on the road.
How
The first meeting, standing still, gives us the feeling of one motorcycle fine and compact, well finished confirming the timeless good taste of the eagle. Climbed in saddle we have a beautiful e comfortable padding under us, with the right and well-studied passenger seat that supports us in acceleration. Even the passenger has a nice space to relax and enjoy the journey. The weight is contained and low saddle, therefore maximum stability for everyone. Also for the female audience the V9 Roamer is very interesting.
- instruments they are essential, everything in the odometer, trip and trip computer for mileage, time and consumption, but which does not tell us the remaining range or the amount of fuel (however the 15-liter tank makes us travel peacefully). In my opinion, certainly a bit old school, instead of the light that tells us when to change gear, the rev counter would be preferable, given the thrust of the engine and the sporty soul which we will talk about later.
How are you
We leave in the direction of Lake Orta and immediately enter the motorway. There position it is excellent, there is no fatigue and even after almost an hour I can say that there is an excellent balance of posture between arms, torso and legs. The passenger also signals to me that he is fine (thank goodness!). There aerodynamic protection is good: the small windshield you have the air to the right point and we travel safely at 130kmh. For the taller ones, perhaps the larger windshield is more suitable but it would create turbulence.
Once near the lake the fun begins. The engine pushes very well low: the two cylinders have a great brio right from the start and we appreciate it more and more as the curves intensify. The cultural, six-speed is accurate and the gears go perfectly one after the other, aided by the pair that never leaves us hanging in the middle of the curve.
We test with and without a passenger and of course, once alone, we slip into the curves with incredible handling and confidence, as if we had been riding that bike for years. Braking in tight spaces requires a decisive action from the rider, however helped and reassured by the ABS system front and rear. There cycling it is well studied and transmits excellent feedback both in the strait and in the fastest sections.
In conclusion
We end the tour with that desire to do many more kilometers, but the clouds are pressing. We can therefore say that the V9 Roamer is seriously the right compromise for those who look with one eye on style and with the other on a bike that I would dare to define eclectic. It is part of that segment of classic motorcycles, with an elegant design, with the double chrome exhaust that is very popular, but without sacrificing comfort and performance, both in touring and in everyday life.
It performed well on the motorway, in urban traffic and between curves and hairpin bends without ever getting bored, on the contrary:
- il low weight and maneuverability therefore make it suitable for daily use, whether it is the commute to work or an aperitif;
- il comfort, ergonomics and the rich catalog accessories confirm it as ideal for tourist use even in two;
- il engine 850cc and the chassis are the icing on the cake for those who also want an engine capable of making them have fun on the most beautiful roads in Italy and in the world.
