Good first: Motor Bike Expo 2020 starts at full throttle
The hall of the motorcycle of Verona is confirmed in constant growth. Surprise guests, pilots of all categories, operators and many enthusiasts on the opening day.
The opening of the 2020 edition of Motor Bike Expo was in fact rewarded by a considerable turnout. Fans mingled with sector operators, journalists and surprise guests - above all the much admired show girl Sabrina Salerno - in the seven covered pavilions and in the external areas of VeronaFiere. The custom, traditional strong point of the event, has been able to welcome the technological and market innovations that year after year increase the interest of an MBE increasingly protagonist of the world of motorcycles at 360 °.
1THE PILOTS OF AIROH HELMET
Airoh is present with all the majesty of the Tech Truck, the vehicle that follows the drivers in the various world championships on asphalt and which is used as a showroom during the events. Fans can sit in the elegant and welcoming truck to discover the whole Airoh Helmet range, on and off-road, try the sizes and, if they are lucky, meet the drivers that Locatelli Spa sponsors and “cuddles” all over the world. It went very well for us! While we were testing the Aviator 2.3 and the new Aviator Ace, we had a chat with the British pilot Leon Camier, intent on choosing the new graphics of 2020 for the championship Superbike. Since it will be hard to keep up with him on the bike, try surfing, his passion after speed.
2ON THE "TRACK" WITH APRILIA
A good half of the Piaggio Group exhibition area is occupied by Aprilia, joined for the first time with Moto Guzzi in Hall 4. In addition to Alex Espargaro's RS-GP, the most admired Aprilia was the new one RS 660, the highly anticipated novelty of 2020. To have even more fun, Aprilia has also set up six virtual gaming stations for the riders. Over one hundred visitors competed yesterday on the Mugello circuit divided into heats. The best time on Thursday was a good 1.48.742. Whoever snatches the fastest lap of the MBE will be rewarded by Max Biaggi in person on Saturday.
3SUZUKI UNVEILS SPECIAL KATANA 7584
Suzuki has lifted the veil that concealed the Katana Special in the stand of the House of Hamamatsu, in Hall 6. It is, at least for the moment, a one-off version, a one-of-a-kind model in modern classic style, but nothing denies that can acquire the status of a limited series. The name chosen for the special, Katana 7584, refers to the 750 my 1984. An unmistakable "naked" and characterized by the retractable headlight, until then seen only on the sportiest cars; and from the particular chromatic choice rich in gold, blue and opaque gray details.
4CUSTOM SPECIAL & STOCK
Motor Bike Expo also represents the test bench on which the major customizers in the world meet who, having come to Verona to exhibit their specials, help to outline the trends that will be most in vogue during the year. 2020 confirms the attraction of the public towards performing baggers: touring made mainly on a Harley-Davidson basis, but deeply revised in search of performance and a breathtaking look.
In addition to the numerous preparers and the “custom” and “café racer” workshops, at the stand Harley-Davidson you can experience the thrilling thrust of Livewire and take a close look at it pan america, the revolutionary maxi-enduro that everyone is waiting for. Among the other bikes on the stand you will find the new one Low Rider S, the 2020 Touring platform and the exclusive models CVO in limited series.
BMW Motorrad is present with the entire R NineT range, the Option 719 collection of special customization parts (also available on on / offroad models, such as the sales champion R 1250 GS). The newly conceived work of art, the R18 / 2 custom concept and the other custom factories coming directly from Monaco, is beautiful.
In the space Moto Guzzi the V85 TT is presented in the new Travel version, ready for the journey thanks to its complete set-up. The Moto Guzzi V7 III is present in the new Stone S version, made in a limited edition of only 750 numbered copies. After the great success of the inaugural edition in 2019, the Moto Guzzi Fast Endurance Trophy rekindles the engines: the 2020 season will be presented on Friday 17 January at 11 am.
Royal Enfield exhibits 25 motorcycles, 18 of which have been modified with customization kits taken from the catalog accessories of the Indian House. On the occasion of the MBE, Royal Enfield will also present 6 custom liveries with unique liveries and the Royal Enfield Nought Tea GT, the beautiful retro-racer based on Continental GT 650 made by Harris Performance. The motorcycles on display can be purchased by any dealer who will join the customization project scheduled for 2020.
Triumph Motorcycles exhibited the three special TFC (Triumph Factory Custom) versions of the Thruxton, Bobber and Rocket III models. A national first also for the Hinckley manufacturer, with the new Tiger 900 Rally Pro and GT Pro. These are potential protagonists of the Italian market in the off-road segment, the most requested in the last twelve months.
FB Mondial presents the 1948 cc Pagani 300, the SMX, the Sport Classic 125 and the “nude” HPS CBS and ABS 125; and the 300 cc HPS. For the MBE there are two previews: the brand new Flat Track 125, coming out on the market in spring; and the “VentiVenti” show bike.
Honda confirms its presence in style in Hall 5 with the largest stand of Motor Bike Expo. Visitors will be able to admire the entire 2020 range of the Golden Wing, from the new CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP, Africa Twin CRF1100L (the most anticipated maxienduro of the year) and CMX500 Rebel, to the new colors of the CB1000R naked.
Kawasaki arrived in Verona with the naked Z900 and Z650, the modern classic W800 and the sport tourer Ninja 1000 SX. One of the bikes that will warm up the smartphone cameras the most will undoubtedly be the Kawasaki Z H2, the only maxinaked in the world equipped with a Supercharger. For fans who visit its stand, Kawasaki reserves other surprises.
Benelli presents itself in Hall 6 of the MBE with the new 752S, a muscular naked arriving on the Italian market in the coming weeks and which reaffirms the Pesaro-based company in the medium-displacement segment; and the modern classic Leoncino 800, scheduled for early summer. Alongside them, among others, the best-selling TRK 502 e TRK502X, Leoncino and Leoncino Trail and the BN125. Also on display are the 502C, the first cruiser of the Pesaro brand, and the Imperiale 400.
Also in hall 6, Yamaha awaits motorcyclists with all the news of the 2020 range, including the naked MT-03 and MT-125, the Tracer 700, the TMAX 560 and the Tricity 300. Being the Motor Bike Expo, you can't miss an excursion among the specials. Directly from the world of Faster Sons the presence of two customizations based on XSR700: the "Violante" made by Garage 221 and the "Sette" by D&G Motorsport, which will represent Italy in the "Back to the Dirt" contest. To underline the presence of all the main clubs linked to the real models of the three tuning forks.
5CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES
Do not miss the new SENA audio devices, including the 10C EVO, which combines the 4K camera and the bluetooth audio system in a single instrument. At the LS2 stand you will find the whole new line of clothing of the Spanish house, in addition to helmets for which the brand is known all over the world.
