Extraordinarily handy, the new KTM 1290 Super Adventure S boasts an updated chassis that improves weight distribution and agility. The new saddle, made in two parts, provides for the rider's seat to be adjustable in height by 20 mm and offers greater comfort on long travel. The position of the handlebars and levers can also be customized, to the advantage of the correct triangulation between the footpegs, saddle and handlebar.

Also new is the rear subframe, which thanks to revised measurements has made it possible to reduce the height of the saddle, while maintaining great solidity when traveling in two with a full load. The open trellis swingarm has been lengthened, to the advantage of stability and traction when turning the throttle in a "heavy" way.

Optimized weight distribution

Overall, the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S has been improved in the centralization and lowering of the masses and is even easier to drive, in the city as on the winding mountain routes.

Next generation electronics

One of the main innovations of the new KTM 1290 Super Adventure S is the standard adoption of the ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) system, developed in collaboration with Bosch. The traction control has been updated and is less invasive than the previous version. New for 2021 is the possibility of installing the RALLY riding mode as an option, which is in addition to the riding modes of the RAIN, STREET, SPORT and OFFROAD series.

All the settings of the motorcycle they are manageable through the brand new 7 ”TFT display which presents faster and more practical menus, as well as aesthetically clear infographics to clearly indicate the various options of the bike. The instrument cluster sits above a newly designed glove box, complete with a USB charging socket. To interact with the screen, the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S features completely redesigned handlebar grips that offer a new and smoother user experience. Quick selection buttons and favorites are very practical, allowing you to change settings while driving while the driver remains focused on the road. Also new is the Connectivity Unit which allows you to easily associate your smartphone via Bluetooth, to easily manage incoming calls, the music play list and navigation (for a fee) via the KTM MY RIDE app.

The Euro 8 homologated 75 cc 1.301 ° V-twin LC5 is the heart of the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S. Capable of delivering 160 HP and 138 Nm of torque, it is in great shape, with a lower weight on the scale of 1,6 kg compared to the previous version thanks to thinner engine casings and a new oil circuit. The engine breathes through the updated dual exhaust manifold that joins the unpublished tailpipe. The gearbox made by PANKL has been improved and allows for faster and more precise gear changes, especially when using the optional Quickshifter +.

New generation semi-active WP suspension

Among the innovations introduced by WP for the 2021 model is the Suspension PRO package, a package of additional settings (for a fee) that adds the ADVANCE mode to the three standard hydraulic damping adjustments (COMFORT, STREET and SPORT), which allows you to finely customize the behavior of the fork and monoshock, the AUTO mode that automatically adjusts the behavior of the suspension according to the rider's driving style and the terrain, and the OFFROAD mode that allows you to ride off-road with an ideal setting. Among the options included in the PRO package there is also the possibility to manage the "anti-dive" function by activating or deactivating it at will, to adjust the mono preload on 10 levels or to choose between three pre-set options (High, Standard , Low).

New paid electronic packages

For the refined palates, it is possible to purchase the Tech Pack paid package, which includes the Rally Pack with riding mode RALLY (which allows you to adjust the traction control intervention on nine levels), the Suspension PRO Package, the Quickshifter +, the of the engine torque in the release phase (Motor Slip Regulation), the Hill Hold Control to facilitate hill starts and the adaptive brake light in the event of emergency braking.
