La K 1600 GT in our test it is the most refined and luxurious “granturismo” from BMW, easy and manageable, practically a two-wheeled SUV.

The mighty 1.649 cm3 forward six-cylinder engine has a declared power of 160 HP at 6.750 rpm while maximum torque is 180 Nm at 5.250 rpm. It is fitted with the “Next Generation” Dynamic ESA electronic suspensions which offer fully automatic load compensation (including luggage and passenger). The dashboard with 10,25-inch TFT color display has integrated navigation maps, intuitive route planning and full connectivity as standard, as does the audio system.

Impressions

Driving is easier than expected: the balanced and reactive chassis gives great satisfaction even in the curves, not only in the “tourist” guide. The engine has a fluid and vigorous delivery with any gear engaged. The gearbox is therefore rarely used, but the electronic one offered as an option is very comfortable and, once tried, it becomes indispensable. Braking is powerful and manageable. Excellent protection offered by the large hull.
