Itinerary:
We choose to start from Lienz direction Heiligenblut am Grossglockner, along a pleasant stretch for driving and views of the beautiful Austrian landscapes. From this small Carinthian town starts one of the musts of European motorcycling, the Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse.
Being a toll road, we stop at the toll booth where we are given a sticker for our motorbike and a detailed map. Having paid the toll, we are ready to tackle the 36 curves of pure pleasure that this road can offer. There is no shortage of points of interest, so we recommend a gentle pace in order to appreciate the entire motorcycling and cultural experience. Difficult to choose, but some of the stages are obligatory: the first detour is the one for Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe, lookout point on the Grossglockner, from which you can also observe the pasterze, still the largest glacier in the Eastern Alps.
After a dutiful stop at the highest car and motorcycle exhibition in Europe, we head towards Kitzbühel, a popular ski resort east of Innsbruck, in Tyrol. Parked the bikes, we get lost in the picturesque streets of the medieval center full of cafes and luxury shops. You don't pay, we also visit the Museum Kitzbühel which traces the history of the city and the winter sports of the area, with paintings by the local artist Alfons Walde. We conclude this splendid day from the panoramic terrace of the museum which offers a complete view of the city.
