In motion on unique scenarios
The road, in good condition, connects Valley of Isere a Lanslevillard. An area known for being a true winter sports paradise, in the summer it becomes a funfair for lovers of motorcycle, curves and spectacular views on the highest carriage road in the Alps.
Before reaching Val D'Isère you can take a break in the modern world Tignes or in the pretty mountain village of Bonneval sur Arc shortly after the pass.
Due to the altitude, the weather is often very variable and it is easy to pass from full sun to heavy showers. Furthermore, the refuge at the top of the pass is not always open, so always pay attention to the weather forecast.
Useful tips and curiosities
Immediately after Lanslevillard you can turn left to the Hill of moncenisio and the homonymous lake, a wonderful pass that takes you back to Italy towards the Susa Valley.
La Route of the Great Alps it was conceived by the French Touring Club at the beginning of the last century to connect the most beautiful and scenic roads in the Alps. The route extends from the southern shore of Lake Geneva to Menton, For a total of 16 passivated and over 16.000 meters in altitude.
