EICMA 2019: THE EDITION OF THE 'REVOLUTIONARY MOTORCYCLE' CLOSES WITH AN EXTRAORDINARY SUCCESS, VISITORS ABOVE 800 THOUSAND ALTITUDE
The President Dell'Orto: "An even more competitive, attractive and essential exhibition event"
Revolutionary did not turn out to be only the motorcycle which triggered the two-wheeler industry in the six days of EICMA. This year was also impressed by his own exhibition container par excellence. The 77th Edition of the International Bicycle and Motorcycle Exhibition, that is closed last night at Fiera Milano-Rho, it was in fact the most revolutionary, innovative and attractive of this exhibition with more than a hundred years of history.
After the extraordinary successes of the past editions, the number of visitors is still growing, reaching almost 800 thousand, storming the eight occupied pavilions, two more than the 2018 edition, to discover the novelties put on display by the 1887 brands present ( historical record of the exhibition: + 47,54% on 2018 and + 10,29% on 2017), 63,86% from abroad representing 43 countries, and be thrilled by the many innovations, the contents of the special areas and from the show proposed in the outdoor spaces. An all-round exhibition offer that this year has seen an expansion for the first time even to the little ones with the EICMA FOR KIDS project: an initiative that has given more than a thousand girls and boys, aged 4 to 11, the emotion to try motorcycles and bicycles for free and learn the rudiments of safety road.
But the effect of the “Revolutionary Motion” - the theme of this edition - does not stop at the days of opening to the public (Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday). In fact, the numbers concerning the days dedicated to operators and the press (Tuesday and Wednesday) also confirm the success. 43.623 sector operators were present, of which 23.971 came from abroad (55%), a figure which further certifies EICMA's international attractiveness, as well as the equally significant and strategic B2B nature of the event. While there were 4.053 accredited journalists and media, to which a further 4.065 influencers, technicians and communication operators were welcomed in the exhibition area and in the brand new and larger press room, moved this year to the heart of the exhibition and set up with modern services to enable a better professional media experience.
"Very satisfied" with the results, the President of EICMA SpA Andrea Dell'Orto, who in a note released this morning praised "the excellent work of the organizational technostructure" and thanked, with "all the exhibitors and the two-wheel industry, also the individual members of the Board of Directors for having shared and supported the path that led us to this success ". "The one that has passed since the last edition - explained Dell'Orto - was in fact a very demanding year, during which we fielded a series of important strategic investments, at different latitudes, which allowed us to further raise the undisputed value of our exhibition event. It was not easy, but after these exciting six days we can proudly say that we are even more attractive, more competitive and essential for the sector and that we have unequivocally contributed to filling EICMA with novelties ".
Dell'Orto's reference is, among other things, to the communication and promotion activities carried out, to the important achievement of the ISO 20121 certification that made EICMA the first sustainable exhibition event in the world in its sector, to the strong actions to relaunch the digital presence of EICMA with the creation of a new website, a new app, the sale of online tickets, the exciting and innovative format of the inauguration ceremony, the two prestigious and engaging competitions linked to the entrance ticket and an more effective social proposal, which reached record numbers during the event.
