Fourth stage of the 2021 Dakar rally, from Wadi Al Dawasir to Riyadh. Transfer and Special for over 800 km!
The stage, indeed big stopper Dakariana, today was infinite. With a transfer for over 476 km and the special stage of over 337 km Barreda roars and opens the gas to finish first and recover the gap on the French De Sultrait which continues to lead the overall standings for only 15 ″. Toby Price it loses some ground due to a navigation problem, but remember that a stage like today is more strategic than anything else: the strongest in the standings settle down and get ready for side arms.
In fact, 10 riders follow the Frenchman in just 10 minutes and keep an eye on Kevin Benavides, who remains third and will have an excellent starting position tomorrow. The conflict between manufacturers is also pressing, 4 different among the top 5, with Husqvarna ahead, Honda, Yamaha e KTM.

Good all the rookies, like Daniel sanders in 14th place is ours Lorenzo Piolini who advances with tenacity, losing a few minutes and position, settling in 65th place in the general classification with his KTM. In the third stage he did not make it instead Tiziano Internò who had to stop due to a fall and a fracture to the scaphoid. As anticipated by Toby price, this Dakar will have continuous changes and emotions, even on a day of adjustment like today, the 4th. The still minimal gaps will still allow new pilots evolutions and tactics. Barreda gave his best today recovering on De Sultrait, still an excellent driver so far with the new team. Franco Picco shows off all his experience with the 46th place and Lorenzo Piolini at the 65th place, quietly closing the 4th stage of the Dakar which is still very long! The 5th stage for Ryad starts at 5,25 🚀 with many dunes from destination to end, let's get ready for many surprises! |
